A ceremonial gold forehead mask or “wutulai” of a type that is found throughout various Islands in the Southeast Moluccas in northeastern Indonesia. This piece was once part of an important clan treasure and would have only been worn by a high-ranking woman during important rituals. This particular example is said to be from the small Island of Sermata.
